Green Schools

At present the Green schools are in operation to try to secure our first flag for litter and waste. We are putting new bins in place and highlighting what can and can’t be put into each bin.

We are monitoring the amount of waste going to landfill each week in the hope that we can reduce the amount of waste.

We are offering 2 competitions at present-1 for coming up with a green school code and one for a recycling project using reusable materials as an arts and crafts project.

We are hoping to get other subjects involved perhaps getting woodwork classes to help with constructing more permanent bins so that they can’t be moved around especially in black litter spots such as the canteen and study hall.

We are trying to introduce food waste bins also to the canteen, study hall and home economics rooms.

We are constantly updating noticeboards with new posters and up to date information.

We are attending the Green Schools expo in the RDS in Dublin on Feb 22nd to help expand our ideas and obtain that crucial first flag.
