Pictured above are Ella Cook & Elana Monaghan, both fifth-year students, with their BT Young Scientist Project

The project is called “Grade Easy App” and it is an app that allows the user to keep a track of their progress in each subject by entering the results of any graded work. The app will then give you some statistical information about how you’re doing in each subject and will ultimately provide a “predicted grade” for the subject. This is something the Department of Education could be very interested in and it shows how innovative these young women are.
The girls did some of the work with TeenTurn; a voluntary group that promotes STEM careers for girls by developing their tech skills, putting them in touch with experts to help them with this kind of project work. They also entered this project in Scifest@GMIT 2021 last May and won a prize in the Intermediate Technology category.
The very best of luck to Elana & Ella and sincere thanks to Dr. John Toner, who mentored the students with this project.
