Our Senior Girls are through to the Connaught Cup Semi Final after a commanding performance to secure a comprehensive 10 point victory over Abbey College Boyle in blustery, challenging conditions with a final scoreline of 5-9 to 1-11.
From the outset, PCH settled quickly despite the swirling wind. The forwards worked superbly as a unit, and PCH’s goal threat was evident throughout Ciara O’Neill, Sarah Lynch, Caoimhe O’Neill, and Chloe Mannion all raised green flags with well-taken goals, combining sharp finishing with clever link-up play. In truth, the girls were unlucky not to have added more goals to their tally, with several efforts flashing narrowly wide or denied by last-ditch defending.
At the other end, Annabelle Kenny was excellent in the opening quarter. Abbey College started brightly and created early chances, but Annabelle produced a series of pivotal saves that kept PCH in control and prevented any early momentum swing.
The midfield worked tirelessly from start to finish, battling hard against the opposition and the wind. Their work rate ensured a steady supply of possession to the forwards while also providing vital defensive cover. The PCH backline delivered a composed and disciplined performance, snuffing out attacks and breaking quickly to launch countermoves. The defensive units solidity proved crucial in limiting Abbey Colleges scoring opportunities. With this victory, PCH completes their group stage with a perfect record – four wins from four- and now advance to the Connacht Cup Semi-Final. They will face St Cuans, Castleblakney on Thursday 4th December
