We welcome the involvement of parents as partners in the education of their children and the co-operation and support of the wider community in delivering a quality teaching and learning experience for all.
Thank you to all parents who attended the recent Incoming Fifth Year Information Evening and for the constructive engagement shown throughout the consultation process. The feedback provided by parents both through the earlier survey and at the meeting itself has been extremely valuable in shaping how this initiative is being communicated and supported. The school presentation is available here.
As students enter Senior Cycle, learning becomes increasingly complex and independent. Students are expected to engage more deeply with research, project work, collaboration, and ongoing assessment, alongside preparation for State Examinations. The one-to-one (1:1) device programme is intended to support students in managing these demands more effectively, particularly in areas such as organisation, access to learning resources, and feedback on work.
At the same time, parents rightly highlighted a number of important considerations, including screen time, wellbeing, cost, online safety, device management, and the continued importance of handwriting and exam preparation. These points were central to the discussions on the night and have informed both the structure of the programme and the supports put in place.
Participation in the one-to-one device programme at Fifth Year level remains optional, and families are encouraged to make the decision that best supports their child’s learning at this stage.
The school has partnered with Olive For Education, who will work with us to support parents, students, and staff throughout the process. Families who decide to participate in the programme should follow the steps outlined in the ordering guide below to ensure timely delivery of devices for the new school year.
Further information and FAQs are available through Olive for Education, and the school remains available to discuss individual queries or circumstances as required.
Thank you again for your engagement and for working in partnership with the school to support students as they progress through Senior Cycle.
Kind regards,
PCH
