Two of our students, Ava Healy and Ewan Morrissey, completed the Crean Challenge over the midterm. Both students are members of the Kilcoona Scout Group.Here is an account of their Icelandic adventure;

We got up really early on Saturday morning to go to the airport. We got on a plane at roughly 11 o’clock then spent the rest of the day travelling to the scout centre we stayed at. In the evening we played Charade.
On Sunday we went for a walk in the snow after breakfast. We made a route map for the hike the next day. The rest of the day we were setting up tents on the snow and in the evening we slept in them even though it was -11°C outside❄️
On Monday we took down our tents before breakfast. And set off for 10km hike which was miserable because there was a storm coming on at 1pm.
On Tuesday we did a route card for the Expedition, archery and watched the Everest movie. We also had a snowball fight. We had an Icelandic culture night which meant, sheep’s head, whale blubber and fermented shark for dinner
On Wednesday we did the Expedition, it was a lot better than the hike on Monday but it was 27km. In the evening we packed our bags and slept in the cold hall and played Ja Ja Ding-Ding all evening.
On Thursday we got our bags and set off for a 2-hour journey to Reykjavik. That evening we did our logbooks and had some fun and games.
On Friday we went to a Geothermal pool, 45 minute walk away from our centre. We visited the local shopping centre to get stuff for our families at home. That evening we did the badge ceremony and stayed up until 3 am for our bus to the airport.
On Saturday we arrived home.
Well done Ava & Ewan, what an adventure!
