A group of music students of Presentation College Headford collectively known as ‘We are Ireland’, have been chosen as one of six finalists in the National final of Waltons Music for Schools Competition 2016. This ensemble consists of senior and junior music students, who are no strangers to the stage and are previous winners of this prestigous music competition in 2013.
Their entry to Waltons Music for Schools Competition involved a recording a video of an ensemble piece. Under the direction of Music teachers Ita Cunningham and Siobhan Shaughnessy, this recording was inspired by the 1916 centenary celebrations and features a seamless fusion of the School Orchestra, Choir, Dancers and Traditional musicians. ‘We are Ireland’ will be performing at the finals of the Waltons Music for Schools Competition in the University of Limerick Concert Hall on May 10th.
