PCH 2nd-year girls took on Gortnor Abbey Crossmolina in a quarter-final cup match today. In glorious sunshine, the girls were strong and determined with Annabelle Kenny, as captain, leading the team to an 8-1 victory. Our defence line was steady and calm when needed – Ava, Hayley (sub: Emma), Aisling and Elaina helped ensure no goals were scored in the first half. Lily D and Alannah were fast and skillful on the wings while Alisha (2 goals) and Eleanor (1 goal) dominated centre field. Ava and Lily R were both on target as always with Lily getting a hat-trick and Ava scoring 2. Lots of changes were made at half-time – and all the girls who came on did really well – Caoimhe, Charlotte, Eda, Katie.
The girls will play their semi-final in a couple of weeks against the winners of Ballinrobe/ Clarin College. This promises to be a challenging and exciting game.
