Huge congratulations to Elana Monaghan and Elizabeth Busari, fifth-year students in PCH, who both competed at the national Technovation Ireland Regional finals on May 7th  event at Microsoft’s Dreamspace in Dublin last weekend. Technovation is a competition for girls who are interested in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) Please see below the girls’ highly innovative apps.

Elana’s project was an app that allows people to interact in scenarios related to employment rights (e.g. breaks, leave entitlements, etc.) and her project won a Highly Commended award at the event! She won an Ireland rugby jersey as a prize.
Elizabeth’s project was a sustainability project about “upcycling”. She created an app to help people find new uses for unused items. Elizabeth dazzled the judges with her amazing pitch
Both girls developed their projects with a voluntary group called TeenTurn, who provide access to experts for girls who are likely to pursue a career in STEM outside of school time. TeenTurn are always looking for more girls to mentor!
Sincere thank you to Iseult Mangan who mentored the girls in their work.
